Colon Cancer Surgery
Anal cancer is a rather rare disease, accounting for no more than 6% of the total number of malignant neoplasms of the anorectal zone. Doctors have found that this pathology is more common in people after 50 years. The Israeli clinic TAMC employs experienced professionals who have extensive experience in the detection and treatment of anal cancer. We use modern equipment and unique therapy methods. Our rooms are equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. It is worth noting that the prices are set in the clinic as in a public hospital. Thus, you get quality services at an affordable cost. If necessary, our staff will help you contact charities.
Preparation for surgery
Before the operation, the patient undergoes a comprehensive examination of the body, during which the doctor learns about the presence of an allergic reaction in the patient, the peculiarities of the development of the disease, the general condition of the person, and the location of the tumour. The patient also needs to have a card about the data of previous studies with him, as well as follow the doctor’s recommendations.
Surgery
In our department, surgeons use the laparoscopic method of surgical intervention, which is safer and more effective for the patient. The doctor removes the affected tissue through a small puncture. A team of doctors monitor the patient’s condition. The entire procedure is performed under anaesthesia.
The following surgical methods are commonly used:
- A local transaction is a surgical procedure in which the tumour is “excised” along with a portion of healthy tissue around the tumour. Surgery can be used if the cancer is small and has not spread. This procedure can save the sphincter so that the patient can manage bowel movements.
- Abdominoperineal resection is a surgical procedure in which the anus, rectum, and part of the sigmoid colon are removed through an incision in the abdomen. The doctor sutures the end of the intestine to an opening on the surface of the abdomen called the stoma so that waste products from the body can be collected in a “bag” outside the body.
Rehabilitation period
After the surgical intervention, the patient is in the hospital for some time. Doctors monitor his health, carry out physiotherapy for a speedy recovery. Then the doctor makes the necessary recommendations, which must be followed at home. After a while, the patient needs to come to an appointment to evaluate the therapy.
