    Hyperhidrosis (sweaty hand) surgery

    Hyperhidrosis (sweaty hand) surgery

In the subcutaneous fat of a person are sweat glands. Most of them are found in the armpits, on the palms and feet. The glands constantly produce a certain amount of sweat to prevent the body from overheating. Sweating increases when it is hot outside or after active physical exertion, as well as during stress and strong feelings. The composition of sweat is water, which evaporates and cools the body, performing the function of thermoregulation.

In the case of hyperhidrosis, the glands begin to work in excess of the norm, releasing more fluid than necessary. And this is a pathological violation of the natural process of sweating. In addition to constant discomfort, they are often accompanied by diseases.

    The cause of the disease

The process of sweating is regulated by the sympathetic autonomic nervous system. When hyperfunction occurs, the system malfunctions and the glands stop working properly. As a result, even minor anxiety turns into a disaster. During hyperhidrosis, sweating intensifies, an unpleasant odour can occur. Increased sweating occurs in local areas or captures the whole body (generalized). Because of this, disorders of the nervous system occur.

Local sweating most often occurs due to a hereditary predisposition. Due to the anatomical features, certain skin areas on the body contain more sweat glands than usual. In people with an increased reaction to environmental factors and hypersensitivity to adrenaline hormones, profuse sweating is also observed.

    • the use of antiperspirants.

Surgical treatment of hyperhidrosis has central and local (local) methods in its arsenal. Local ones include ultrasonic liposuction and curettage of the inner surface of problem skin (curettage). Doctors usually perform sympathectomy in an endoscopic manner. Using a medical clip, the upper sections of the sympathetic trunk of the autonomic nervous system are squeezed. After that, sweating decreases in those places where the operation was performed.
