    Metastatic Brain Tumors Treatment

    Metastases in the brain occupy a special place in oncology, which is associated with the peculiar conditions for the development of a rapidly progressing focus in a closed intracranial space. Most specialists are pessimistic when meeting with patients with cerebral cancer metastases associated with various factors: the severe condition of the patients, the presence of extracranial lesions, a high percentage of local relapses after surgical treatment. However, the development in recent years of new surgical technologies, the emergence of new drugs and the improvement of radiological treatment methods allow us to take a different look at the problem.

    Depending on the size, location and number of tumours, brain metastases can be treated with new highly effective and aggressive tools, which can improve the prognosis for many patients. Increasingly, in neurosurgery and radiation therapy, advanced minimally invasive and non-invasive procedures are selected taking into account the needs of a particular patient. The most common sources of metastasis are lung cancer, kidney cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, and colorectal cancer.

    Diagnostics

    The leading Israeli clinic Tel Aviv Medical Clinic employs true professionals who have vast practical experience and knowledge to identify and treat brain tumours. We use modern equipment and unique methods of therapy. If you have any suspicious symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor. He will conduct the necessary diagnostics and select the optimal treatment regimen.

    In order to make a correct diagnosis, the following research methods are used:

    • MRI (magnetic resonance imaging);
    • CT (computed tomography);
    • PET (positron emission tomography);
    • biopsy (examination of a tissue fragment to determine the morphological structure of the tumour).

    Treatment

    As a therapy, combined treatment is used, which includes taking medications, conducting chemotherapy, radiation therapy. Operations are extremely rare since it is impossible to remove all the nodules at once without damaging the nerves.

    One of the modern and promising ways to reduce and eliminate metastatic and other brain tumours is stereotactic radiosurgery, implemented in the CyberKnife apparatus. The ultra-precise installation allows you to irradiate only the affected tissue, including multiple neoplasms, without affecting healthy areas. At the same time, the technique is non-invasive, painless, does not require anaesthesia and rehabilitation, which helps to avoid unnecessary stress on a weakened body.
