    Overview

Neoplasms are one of the most common problems that can occur in people of any age and gender. Tumours can be congenital and acquired. They are not only an aesthetic problem but can provoke the occurrence of serious disorders in the body and even death. Therefore, each person must be attentive to their own health and in time to seek qualified help.

The Israeli clinic Tel Aviv Medical Clinic is equipped with the latest high-tech equipment, which diagnoses diseases, which is mandatory for prescribing a treatment plan. Experienced doctors of the clinic, based on the results of the examination and guided by an individual approach, will select the most optimal course of chemotherapy. In our clinic, treatment is carried out according to international protocols and only with original, certified drugs.

    Procedure

Chemotherapy is a course of taking medications designed to destroy malignant cells, prevent their further spread, remove metastases, and reduce the tumour. For chemotherapy, various substances are used, a specific dosage and cyclicity are prescribed. Chemotherapy can be used in complex treatment, or as the only possible option to save the patient’s life.

Our doctors use the following types of chemotherapy:

    • Systemic or adjuvant chemotherapy is carried out before surgery or radiotherapy, after removal of the neoplasm, to destroy the foci of metastases. Its purpose is based on substances of synthetic or natural origin, hormones, antibiotics.
    • Immunotherapy aims to expose the serum or antibodies to the immune system.
    • Targeted therapy purposefully blocks the growth of malignant cells by triggering the mechanism of action of the molecules.
    • Induction therapy is designed to induce remission in inoperable tumours.
    • Palliative therapy is not aimed at radical treatment, but to restrain the progression of malignancy.

Most often, chemotherapeutic drugs are administered intravenously or taken orally. The treatment protocol is of great importance. The doctor must take into account not only the expected effectiveness but also the possible harm since all such drugs have a high degree of toxicity.

    Treatment planning

The procedure should be carefully planned before starting treatment. There are several factors that the doctor considers when choosing the optimal regimen for each patient:

    • Type of disease.
    • Localization (location) of the tumour.
    • Stage of the disease.
    • Did the patient receive chemotherapy before?
    • The age of the patient.
    • Does the patient have concomitant diseases, such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease?
