    Signs and symptoms of the disease

    Experts identify the following risk factors that affect the appearance of the disease:

    • some infections and viruses, including the Epstein-Barr virus;
    • hereditary predisposition;
    • autoimmune diseases;
    • adverse environmental influences, contact with harmful chemicals.

    It must be remembered that the pathology detected in time is easier to treat. Therefore, if you have the following symptoms of the disease, you should immediately seek qualified help:

    • enlarged, painless lymph nodes;
    • the decrease in body weight;
    • temperature increase;
    • night sweats.

    Treatment

    Chemotherapy is central to the treatment of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Chemotherapy is treatment with medications (cytostatics) that block cell division or kill tumor cells. Since one drug is not enough to kill all lymphoma cells, combinations of cytostatics are used that act differently on cells (polychemotherapy). This method allows you to achieve the maximum effect in the destruction of cancer cells.

    In rare cases, when the disease does not respond to standard chemotherapy and radiation therapy, or when the disease recurs, high-dose chemotherapy is given. At the same time, this type of treatment destroys hematopoiesis in the bone marrow. Therefore, immediately after it, it is necessary, as it were, to transfer stem cells into the hematopoietic system. Usually, before the start of high-dose chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cells are taken from patients from the bone marrow or the blood, and after the end of the course of treatment, they are again injected into the patient.
