Mastectomy
In modern medicine, moments about an individually selected treatment plan are sounded more and more, which is especially advisable in oncology. For several years now, specialists in the multidisciplinary Israeli clinic Tel Aviv Medical Clinic have taken into account various characteristics of the disease, the patient’s functional state, and concomitant pathologies in the choice of therapeutic tactics.
Symptoms
If you notice a manifestation of the following symptoms, you should immediately consult a doctor:
- lump in the chest, different from the surrounding tissues;
- change in the size, shape or appearance of the mammary gland;
- skin changes, peeling;
- retracted nipple; redness of the breast or part thereof;
- skin resembling an orange peel.
A qualified specialist will conduct the necessary examination and select an individual therapy regimen.
Treatment
The choice of treatment depends on many factors: the stage of the disease, the woman’s age, structure and tumour growth rate. Our doctors take an integrated approach, i.e., the optimal combination of surgical, radiotherapeutic and chemotherapeutic methods.
When choosing a method of operation, specialists plan the option to restore the shape and volume of the breast. Surgical treatment involves two approaches: lumpectomy and mastectomy. The first type is an organ-preserving operation, the second is used in extreme cases.
Today, a mastectomy involves the removal of breast tissue (in fact, for technical reasons, 95% of the tissues), including parts of the skin tissue in the nipple and areola. The operation, as a rule, does not include the removal of the pectoral muscle. If the patient expresses a desire, breast reconstruction can be performed using plastic surgery methods. Reconstruction is carried out by plastic surgeons during or after a mastectomy. In our clinic, breast reconstruction is considered as a component of treatment and therefore it is included in the health basket and paid for by the health insurance fund. If necessary, our specialists will help to contact charitable foundations to raise funds for treatment. It should be noted that we set prices as in a state hospital. Thus, our patients will receive a wide range of services at a good price.
