    Pediatric Lymphomas Treatments

Lymphoma is a heterogeneous group of oncological diseases of the lymphatic tissue, characterized by an increase in lymph nodes and/or damage to various internal organs, in which an uncontrolled accumulation of “tumor” lymphocytes occurs. In lymphoma, as a result of the uncontrolled division of “tumor” lymphocytes, their descendants populate the lymph nodes and various internal organs, disrupting their normal functioning. All lymphomas are divided into 2 large groups: lymphogranulomatosis (also called Hodgkin’s disease) and non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas. High to moderate grade lymphomas are most common in children and usually respond well to intensive treatment.

It is possible to choose the optimal treatment tactics only based on the results of accurately and correctly performed diagnostics. At the Tel Aviv Medical Clinic, the most modern equipment is used for examination, which allows differentiating pathology, assessing the condition of the affected area. It is important not only to identify the tumor, but also to determine its shape through histological and cytological examination.

    Diagnosis of the disease

To diagnose lymphoma, you must be examined by a specialist. Traditionally, lymphomas are dealt with by oncologists and hematologists. The main analysis that allows you to confirm the diagnosis of lymphoma is a microscopic examination of a sample of lymphoid tissue obtained during a biopsy. Radiation diagnostics (X-ray examination, computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging) reveals the presence of tumor formations in various parts of the body that are not accessible to the doctor during an external examination. Radiological methods are used to determine the stage of lymphoma.

    Treatment

Doctors of related specialties are involved in the development of individual treatment tactics, taking into account the characteristics of the patient’s body and the course of the disease, the stage of the tumor, accompanying complications, the degree of spread of the pathological process. Doctors of the highest category are engaged in the treatment of patients with lymphoma, with impressive work experience, who regularly improve their qualifications and improve their knowledge.

The most effective way to get rid of a tumor is to remove it. Our surgeons use minimally invasive surgical techniques. After surgery, a course of chemotherapy is required. If the mass cannot be removed physically, the doctor uses radiosurgery and targeted therapy.
