Neuro-Oncology Clinic in Tel Aviv, Israel

When someone in the family hears the words “you have a brain tumor”, the whole world seems to stop. Most people don’t know where to turn, and they suddenly face dozens of new questions: what does this mean, what treatment exists, who are the right doctors? In our private clinic in Tel Aviv, we try to give patients and families clear answers. We bring together experienced neuro-oncologists, neurosurgeons, radiologists, and supportive care specialists, so no one feels they are fighting alone.

What Conditions We See Every Day

In neuro-oncology there is no “typical” case. We meet people with very different tumors, some aggressive, others slow-growing, and each one has its own story. We often treat patients with glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer, where speed and coordination of care really matter. Others come with pituitary adenomas, usually benign but capable of disturbing hormones and vision.

We also see many astrocytomas and gliomas, which vary in grade – sometimes quiet for years, sometimes fast and dangerous. Meningiomas are often slow but can still cause serious symptoms if they press on the brain. Children, and sometimes adults, arrive with medulloblastoma or other cerebellar tumors. Families with a child diagnosed with neuroblastoma often reach out to us looking for specialized guidance.

Spinal cases are not rare either – from spinal hemangiomas to other tumors of the spine, which may cause pain, weakness, or difficulty walking. And though less common, we also consult on neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) that affect the nervous system. Every diagnosis is different, but our goal remains the same: to make sure the patient receives the most accurate evaluation and a treatment strategy that fits their life.

Diagnostics in Israel – Fast and Precise

One reason many patients come to Israel is the speed and accuracy of diagnostics. In our clinic we organize tests within days, not months. MRI, PET-CT, and sometimes PET-MRI are standard here. When needed, we add molecular and genetic testing to understand the biology of the tumor – this helps us know which treatment will work best. Neuropsychological assessments also help us track changes in memory, speech, or daily functioning.

Treatment Options We Can Offer

Not every patient needs the same treatment, and we never follow a single recipe. Some tumors are best managed with surgery – our neurosurgeons use advanced microsurgical and minimally invasive techniques. Others respond to stereotactic radiosurgery or highly focused radiation. For many conditions, modern targeted therapies and even immunotherapy are already available in Israel.

Chemotherapy protocols are still part of treatment for some tumors, but today they are more personalized than in the past. And when standard approaches are not enough, Israel is home to clinical trials, opening access to experimental but promising drugs.

What’s New in Brain and Spine Tumor Care

In recent years, the way we treat brain and spinal tumors in Israel has changed a lot. Things that once sounded experimental are now available for real patients, right here in Tel Aviv.

Sometimes surgery is still the first step, but it’s not the same as it was ten or twenty years ago. With modern navigation systems and even awake brain surgery, doctors can remove tumors more safely and still protect speech, memory, and movement.

Radiation has also moved forward. Instead of long courses of therapy, some patients with pituitary adenomas, meningiomas or small metastases can now get focused radiation in a single session – treatments like Gamma Knife or CyberKnife. It’s not science fiction, it’s part of everyday practice.

We also rely more on the biology of the tumor. Molecular and genetic tests of glioblastomas, astrocytomas and other tumors tell us which drugs might help and which won’t. This is what people call “personalized medicine,” and in Israel it’s no longer a future dream, it’s happening now.

For some patients, especially those with aggressive brain cancers, immunotherapy or even CAR-T approaches are being tried in clinical trials. Not everyone is a candidate, but when it fits – it can make a difference.

And for tumors in the spine, surgery has become less invasive. Many patients recover faster because the operation is done through small openings, sometimes with an endoscope, instead of a big cut along the back. Less pain, shorter hospital stays, and a quicker return to normal life.

These are not miracles, and no treatment works the same for everyone. But compared to the past, the options in Israel today are wider, safer, and more advanced – giving patients and families more hope than ever before.
