Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer refers to a type of malignant formations developing their elements of the epithelium of the prostate gland. Dangerous pathology is widespread throughout the world, affecting men of all ages and occupying one of the leading places among the total number of oncological diseases. Most often, the disease occurs in older men, often leading to death. Timely diagnosis of the pathological process and adequate treatment increase the chances of a favourable outcome. The causes of the disease are called such provoking factors:

  • Age. The risk of developing prostate cancer increases over the years.
  • Genetic predisposition.
  • Features of the diet and the abundance of animal fats in it.
  • Exposure to hazardous substances used in production.
  • Viral infections.
  • Radiation.
  • Excess weight.
  • Presence of adenoma or prostatitis.

Symptoms

There are no specific symptoms characteristic only of prostate cancer, which sometimes makes diagnosis difficult. Moreover, at the initial stages, the oncological process can be asymptomatic and makes itself felt when metastases have already spread to adjacent structures and organs. If you notice the following symptoms, you should see your doctor immediately:

  • Intense pain in the spine, pelvis, legs, perineum and groin.
  • Difficulty or frequent urination, accompanied by a feeling of incomplete emptying.
  • Intermittent, thin stream of urine.
  • Problems with erection.
  • Impotence.
  • Blood in urine or semen.
  • The presence of seals, palpable during the rectal examination.

The main treatments are surgery and radiation therapy. Other treatments, such as hormone therapy, chemotherapy, are used depending on the clinical scenario and the desired outcome. The use of hormone therapy in advanced stages of the disease gives good results. In localized prostate cancer, the optimal treatment is a radical prostatectomy. We use the laparoscopic method.
